I'm sorry I've been MIA from my blog world lately. This trip to the states has flown by and I haven't done nearly as much as I had hoped. It's been an emotional roller coaster as well. (Of course, that's life for a grieving parent - a not so fun emotional roller coaster.) I have several posts started that I just need to finish so hope to get those out soon but for now, I just want to post a Running with Ryan update.
The first race is done! A college friend of mine ran a 5K with Ryan today - so sorry you did not have your shirt yet.
Speaking of shirts, I am finalizing the design with the printer (took longer than expected but that's okay). If you are planning to get a shirt (whether you are running a race or not), please email me at whitney@runningwithryan.net to be sure you get the size you want. In addition, I'm looking into getting a few children's shirts - if you are interested in getting one, please let me know asap. I'm waiting for a response regarding what sizes would be available and what the cost would be but I need to have an idea of how many we would want.
I want to get the fundraising efforts into full swing. I'll post more about Holden Uganda and Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep very soon. Please consider supporting these causes. (Remember to indicate your donation is in memory of Ryan Elizabeth Watts.) I'm also looking for ways to raise money, other than just asking for donations and through our t-shirts. If you can help, please let me know. Do you have your own business that can donate a portion of proceeds or hold a sale to support RWR? Do you have a hobby/talent that you can use to help raise money for RWR (items you can make and sale or service you could offer)? Do you work with a group of students that need a service project to work on? Maybe you just want to spread the word and collect $1 donations from family, friends, neighbors, coworkers - every little bit helps and adds up to make a difference. If you can help in any way, please let me know.
My own training is going well but I am really wondering why I decided to pick a race full of hills. My body had been holding up pretty well until this last week. My knees are starting to hurt when I run. My feet are giving me problems again, and so is my left hip. I am going to run through it. I thought about going to the doctor to see if there is anything I can do to combat the pain but decided I didn't want to risk the doc telling me to stop running (probably the best thing I could do to stop the pain). I'm looking and trying out different braces in hopes to ease the pain/discomfort.
I hope to start posting updates on total miles and total $ raised soon. Thank you all for your support.
We love you, Ryan Elizabeth.

Wondering if you got the proof for the shirts? Sorry it is going slow, if i can help let me know.
Just thinking, something else people can do is have a yard sale and donate all or some of the proceeds to RWR. I think we are going to have one, later on.
Wishing you did not have to go back, already miss you and Nat. We have really enjoyed seeing you two.
I have learned through Ryan that you are a strong woman. But honey, strong woman need down time too. Take care of yourself. We love you all so much. There is not a day goes by that we do not think of sweet Ryan. I have an amazing niece and two precious great nieces, I love you all.
Nice to hear from you. I am mailing out donations tomorrow, I am so happy to help.
